I hate leading a band - almost every part of it sucks for me. Dealing with people, harassing people for rehearsals for shows where nobody is listening. Carrying gear. Talking to people. It almost made me forget what I even loved about making songs and eventually I just gave up trying to make square pegs fit into unsquare holes.

The eventual result is this collection of songs, written between 2008 and 2022 and recorded between 2018 and 2022 using questionable equipment and even more questionable methods. Safe in the safety of my isolated apartment, away from having to deal with musicians pestering me for things like "chords" and saying things like "I'm not bringing potato salad to the gig". So, it's mostly just me, but luckily some of the tracks are buoyed significantly in quality by the incredible pedal steel guitar work of Dave Easley, who I must apologize profusely to for mixing so horribly. It's not his fault. He's a good guy, especially for a pedal steel player.

It's a breakup album, with my ex-wife, my ex-ex-wife, my ex-friends, ex-bandmates, and soon-to-be ex-home. Shit changes, and sometimes it's hard. Middle-age growing pains suck. Sometimes writing a song about it helps.

Here's to shit not working and still somehow working out.
